The settlement of Tria Monastiria enjoys beautiful sea views, thanks to its elevated position above Rethymno town and also offers peace and tranquility as it’s not crowded.
The location is also a convenient base to explore the nearby villages and beaches, as it offers easy access to the highway.
The suburb Tria Monastiria is just a few kilometres away from Rethymno town with its famous picturesque Old Town with the lovely Venetian architecture, narrow streets and plenty cultural events, as well as its vibrant nightlife with the little cafes and bars, exquisite taverns and restaurants - a perfect example of the magnificent diversity Crete has to offer.
The sandy beach of Rethymno city is located just 500m east of the city centre, next to the Venetian port. It's a lovely beach with golden sand and crystal clear shallow water, very well organized (you will find services such as umbrellas, lifeguard, showers, changing rooms, water sports etc.) and close to all amenities of the city. It is actually the westernmost end of the 13km long beachfront of Rethymno Bay and it’s always busy, but never seems too crowded. Along the beach runs the city's seafront road, Eleftheriou Venizelou str., which is ideal for evening walking, as you can find several cafes, restaurants, beach bars and shops. But what you really should know is that the loggerhead sea turtle (Carretta carretta) lays its eggs on the beach. Thus, do not get surprised if you meet some places that have been marked with ropes; eggs have been found there and are protected by swimmers. The Rethymno Gulf is one of the three most important places for the loggerhead sea turtle in Greece with more than 400 nests every year.
